Welcome to week 13 of your CSA. I ran out of room for some info on the newsletter. The bag of baby chard/beet greens is great tossed into pasta or just dressed like a side salad. It is great mixed with chopped lettuce as well. At this size is it tender and a little sweet. We hope you are enjoying the warmer summer like weather and let's hope it brings on the bounty. Have a great weekend!

The newsletter is below.

Welcome to week 12. Hope your night was not as bat crazy as mine. Have a great weekend and try a google search for a new recipe. Try something you might not usually try, you might like it. You won't know till you try. Cooking isn't rocket science. It is supposed to be fun and you should learn something each time you try something new. Have fun in the kitchen and eat as a family. Teach your kids to cook(if you have them), have your neighbor over for a home cooked meal, be spontaneous. Catch a bat. Let it out. Thanks it for eating mosquitos. Have a great weekend. The newsletter is short, and the link is below. Thanks for letting us be your farmer.

P.S. We do have the new Fairshare cookbook for sale. We can drop them off at sites starting next week. The title is Farm Fresh and Fast and it is brand new this season. We also happen to have our red corn crib on the front cover! Take a look at it, http://www.csacoalition.org/store/farm-fresh-fast-cookbook/ You can purchase a book through us for only $20.00. thats $4.95 off the cover price! Just send us an email and we can leave one at your site. We also still have the A to Z cookbooks available. They make great Christmas/birthday presents and are only $15.00.

Hello and welcome to week 10 of your CSA! We have almost hit the halfway point of the season but it feels like May out there. What is going on with the weather? Where is the summer heat? Why so much extra rain? Oh well, that's farming. It has been pretty nice outside lately. Can't complain really. We hope you try to quick pickle some veggies this week. It's a great way to use up some leftover items or extras. Also, we are trying to move out some celery, we have a nasty leaf disease that is wiping out our celery that is usually so beautiful all season. We wanted to make sure all boxes get some before it's gone. If you still have your head from last week and don't know what to do with this one, chop the whole thing up and freeze it. It will come in handy in winter when you need some celery for a soup or stock. Just shake out a few pieces into the pot and you're done.

We hope you have a great weekend and let us know if you did any pickling. We are doing some more this weekend for sure.

Come see Andy at the Dane County Farmers' Market today. It's going to be a great day to get out and stroll around the square. He will have cucumbers (pickling and slicing), a handful of tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, kale, cippolini onions and more. Hope to see you there.

Welcome to week 9 of the CSA season. We have some pretty nice working weather this week and the veggies are continuing to grow. We are still planting every few days for fall, working in old spring crops, and getting ready for the big harvest of summer. We hope you have a great weekend and take the cooler weather as an opportunity to turn on your stoves and do some cooking this week. Enjoy your veggies.

Below is the newsletter. Have a great rest of the week. Go see Andy at the Market on the Square this weekend. He likes to meet members and had a great time talking with lots of people last week. Let's hope the weather is a repeat of last weekend!

Hello again,

This Saturday there is a self guided garden tour of several gardens and farms, Sprouting Acres is one of them. Andy will not be at the farm till after the market on the square but it is still a great opportunity to see several gardens in the Cambridge area to help raise money for the new library. Below is the press release. Have a great weekend!

Welcome to week 8. We hope you are trying to stay cool. It's hard for us to but we make several trips to the walk-in cooler when we need a break. Problem is, 40 degrees is pretty cold after about 5 minutes. Back out to the fields we go.

Below is the newsletter link. We hope you try some of the cold dishes this week.
