Sprouting Acres Updates

April 2009

It is hard to believe that it is spring, especially with the snow storm making its way towards us! We are officially full for the season. We feel so lucky and proud that the local support for natural, locally grown food is going strong. The greenhouses are full of life already. The heated greenhouse is keeping our little seedlings warm and they are growing rapidly. We've been harvesting winter-seeded greens for a few weeks for restaurants too.

A few work shares have already been out to the farm early in the season to help get the fields ready and the flats seeded. We found a wonderful daycare for Wade part-time, so that Andy can get out the farm on a more regular basis this spring.

Last, but not least, Sprouting Acres recently submitted the application to become certified organic. We are having our 1st inspection in May. We'll keep you posted on the outcome. We hope more spring like weather is on the way so that we can kick the farm up a notch for you all!! Take care.
